The Seniors Conference Goes Virtual!

Hopefully by now you have heard that the 18th Annual Seniors Conference will be held virtually this year. This year’s conference will look and feel a little different than previous years, but it will still be filled with great information and fun activities. We wanted to help alleviate any concerns you might have about a virtual format by walking you through what to expect at this year’s virtual Seniors Conference.

One of the biggest differences in this year’s conference is that all registration will be done online. You can go to www.areaagencyonagingfivecounty.org to register. The registration form is right on the Home Page, you can’t miss it. Registration is simple and only takes a minute. Make sure to provide a valid email address since that is how you will receive information and access to the conference.

Once you have registered, make sure you have a computer, tablet or smart phone with Zoom. Zoom is a free video conferencing program and we will be using it to present the conference this year. You can download it online at https://zoom.us/ or find it in the App Store on your device. You do not need a webcam to participate in our Virtual Conference.

A few days before the conference, we will send out an email to all the registered participants with a link to access the Seniors Conference. A few minutes before the conference starts, simply click on the link to join the conference.

The format of this year’s conference is a little different as well. We will have a keynote address and two speakers, as well as some videos and games. We will not be having vendors at this year’s events, though we are grateful to our sponsors, Molina Healthcare and the Alzheimer’s Association of Utah, for continuing to partner with us on this event. The event will also be much shorter than past conferences. The conference will kick off at 1PM and we will conclude about 3PM.

We understand that this event is different than what we have done in the past, but we felt this was the best way to still have a conference while keeping people safe. We want you to know that we are here if you have questions or concerns or need help with any of the steps to participate in the conference. Please feel free to reach out to us at aaanews@fivecounty.utah.gov. We look forward to “seeing” you at the Seniors Conference!
